Peter Carlson, M.A., LMHCA

Sometimes, it can feel like our stories or circumstances get in the way of the life we want to live. Other times, it feels like we are tied up in our thoughts and can’t figure out how to pull the right strings to get them untangled. If you feel you’re in a season like this and looking for help, I would be honored to work together. In our counseling relationship, my goal is to help you move forward to engage in life more fully with courage and clarity. I love bringing a collaborative spirit to our work together and am passionate about sharing new skills, tools, and insights for the journey.

I work with college students, adults, and couples in person and via Telehealth. I provide talk therapy through various lenses, drawing from elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and solution-focused approaches. My style is relaxed, practical, and growth-oriented. Together, we will look for ways to make small changes that can lead to new behavior patterns and beliefs over time. If you’re ready for something to change, even if you’re unsure what that change is, it would be my honor to work with you.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy being outside, trying new coffee shops with my wife, running and cycling, and finding new cooking recipes at home.
