Shatarra DeVose, M.A., LMHCA
No matter what age and stage we find ourselves in, life requires help from others. While facing hopeful moments, celebrating major milestones, braving change, experiencing deep grief, or whatever life throws our way…the helping hand of a parent, friend, close relative, coach, spouse, or neighbor encourages us to keep moving forward. From infancy to later years, we need each other!
As a counselor, my goal is to join hands with children, adolescents, & families and be a supportive presence through life changes. I make it a priority to create a soothing, compassionate, and inviting space that encourages clients to inspect life changes with curiosity and wonder! With over 15 years of nonprofit and social service experience, I carry a wealth of knowledge about supporting individuals facing many issues. I integrate psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, family systems, multicultural, and play therapy approaches when serving clients.
My goal is to help foster a counselor-client relationship that:
Respects the dignity and inherent worth of every child, teen, and family.
Values client autonomy and interests.
Nurtures playfulness and curiosity throughout the healing process.
Fosters a connection of care & combined wisdom to tackle life issues.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy baking bread, checking out new walking trails, making memories with loved ones, and learning French.
