You Are Not Alone: A Gentle Offering of Support and Hope
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month — a time to pause, to honor survivors, and to hold space for the pain, the courage, and the resilience that often go unseen. It’s also a time to raise awareness, to offer support, and to remind anyone who needs to hear it: you are not alone, and what happened to you is not your fault.
According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center:
81% of women
43% of men in the United States have experienced some form of sexual assault or harassment.
Even more heartbreaking: 2 out of 3 cases go unreported. Many survivors suffer in silence — unsure of where to turn, afraid they won’t be believed, or simply trying to survive day by day.
We want you to know: your story matters.
Your voice deserves to be heard — whether you whisper it to a trusted friend, write it in a journal, or share it with a therapist. There is no timeline for healing. You are not “too much.” You are not alone.
If You’re a Survivor
We see you.
You did not cause what happened. The shame you might feel does not belong to you — it belongs to the person who caused harm.
It’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to take your time. You are worthy of healing, of peace, and of joy, no matter where you are on your journey.
If You Love or know a Survivor
Your kindness, your willingness to listen, your presence — it matters more than you may know. Even quiet support can be deeply healing. Simply saying, “I believe you” can change someone’s life.
